I wish someone would have told me years ago just how simple it can be to make some extra cash. The second we started getting serious about debt payoff, it seemed like I began finding all of these really awesome ways to make money. As we enter a new year, I wanted to create an updated list of some of the best, newest and simplest ways to make yourself some extra money. These are 30 of the latest side hustles and passive income sources to make more money. Some require very little effort, some require more but all of these things can definitely make you money this year!

Start a blog
I am still in disbelief at how financially beneficial it has been for me to start a blog. In years past I used to attempt working odd hour part time jobs in order to help make our family some extra cash. Now I can work from home doing something I love, that I have total control over and I can make money from it!

If you haven’t heard of the Dosh app yet, you are definitely missing out my friend! Unlike other apps, Dosh gives you money back automatically on purchases you make. There is no scanning receipts, no clipping coupons, or selecting deals.

Acorns is very similar to Dosh in the sense that it takes very little effort on your part. You know how your grandma always had that coin jar where she would save her spare change? Well, Acorns basically does that for you digitally with interest!

For example, if you spend $4.50 on a cup of coffee, Acorns will round up that purchase to $5 and invest the .50 cents for you! Affiliate marketing has been a great way for me to make an additional income through the blog. The best part is (that most people don’t know) you can also use affiliate marketing on your Facebook page, through Pinterest, e-mail and on other social media outlets like Instagram! You don’t need a blog!

Affiliate marketing is as simple as recommending something to a friend. When you friend decides to take advantage of a thing, course, or service that you’ve recommended, you’ll earn a commission just for recommending them. Sell your stuff online
Clear that clutter!!! In one week we were able to make around $1,000 just by selling stuff online that we were no longer using! There are so many sites that you can take advantage of but my personal favorite is Facebook Marketplace.
Whenever we have sold stuff on Facebook Marketplace, we generally get our asking price and are able to sell most of our items rather quickly. She has had a ton of success with this online selling platform and can definitely get you started on seeing more success through eBay selling.
Automate your expenses
You know, it always blows my mind when I realize I can save money while actually doing less work. This year we have set up automated payments for as many things as possible. My personal favorite being setting up a Chewy auto ship for our animal’s food, litter and treats.
With Chewy you already get discounts with top brands and when you set up an auto ship you save an additional 5%-10% plus free shipping when you spend over $50. For us, this is a consistent thing because dog food, cat food and litter adds up really quick!
Save on gift cards
I am a big fan of gift cards. They force you to enjoy yourself a little more instead of spending money on something boring like groceries. But did you know you can actually buy gift cards for yourself at a fraction of the cost? Another crazy simple (and totally legit) way to make money is by recommending your favorite apps to your friends! I do it all the time! There are a ton of rebate apps that give your friends cash for singing up and you can make some extra cash as well! You can share these through text, e-mail or on your social media outlets! Here are a list of my top favorite apps that pay you and your friends!
- BeFrugal – BeFrugal is an online resources for the best coupons around. Get a $10 credit here!
- Dosh – Dosh is an app that links up to your credit cards (or qualifying debit cards) and gives you money back on purchases you make. It works like other cash back apps by refunding you money on qualifying purchases only you don’t have to keep track of anything! Get $5 for signing up!
- Drop – Drop is an app that links to your cards and gives you cash back on some of the places you spend the most. My personal choices are: Target, Trader Joe’s, Chipotle, Whole Foods and Starbucks. Link a card and get $3!
