I have been saying this for years, and I think the world we currently living in has got my back when I say that businesses are taking a virtual turn in a big way. This can be especially beneficial if you are someone with a skill, talent or information to share! I’ll cover how you can either build or improve your business and make money online by creating virtual training and/or courses. Plus, you can have a blast doing it and help spread your knowledge to every corner of the world.

Think about all of the little classes, trainings or courses you have taken over the span of your life.
First of all start by thinking of some of the in person classes or trainings you have maybe taken part in:
Now more than ever the world has made it clear that all of these can be taught online, but here’s what you might not have realized. If trainings and classes like these can be taught online so could trainings and courses like:
And these are just at the the top of my head.
Online trainings or courses are just like any type of class you could take in person except that they are virtual!
By looking over the two lists I shared above I think it is pretty clear that just about anyone could create an online classroom, course, or training.
And right now, you would be in high demand!
If you have a fun skill, ability or knowledge on a topic, people will pay money to learn from you virtually in their homes. I personally have created courses on the following topics:
However, I have seen online trainings that teach things like:
I don’t want to keep over-sharing ideas, I just really want you to be aware of how possible it is to create a virtual training on just about any topic! Nothing is off limits, I swear!
So, to answer the question: ANYONE can benefit from creating an online training!
YES! So many people! So many people that Forbes had originally estimated this to be a $35 BILLION dollar industry by 20205 — and they sure didn’t account for Covid!
With social media, the internet, and email getting people to find and sign up for your virtual course is literally easier than ever. In fact, one TikTok video often helps me receive dozens of sign-ups for a course in a matter of minutes! (Yes, I have a big TikTok following now, but this was happening before I did!)
It sounds so shady, but by hosting a pre-sale on your couses, you can actually make sure they are profitable before you go through the hastsle and stress of creating one!
Here is a quick break down of how I made $1,000 selling something that did not yet exist. (Oh, and I did it ethically and delivered an amazing product afterward)!
The best part is, you really don’t need a big social media following. You could start with something as simple as your personal Facebook page.
Chances are, if you have a particular talent, skill or knowledge, people have already asked you for more information about it.
Maybe you have friends wanting you to style their hair for their weddings. People asking you for massage tips when you cramp a muscle. When you make your kid’s birthday cakes you get so many comments from people who are blown away by your skill! TEACH TO THEM!

Ok, so I think I answered all of the why and what, let’s talk about the how.
If you’re thinking this sounds like a genius idea that you totally want to be a part of you may be feeling a bit nervous about the fact that you have no idea how to actually create any sort of online training or course.
It’s all good, I’ll break it down.
First of all, you have to decide what you want to be teaching people about. It’s always best to start with one particular topic when you are first getting started.
For example, if you want to teach cooking, maybe start with a course that is all about pasta dishes. Work on promoting only this course or training.
If you make too many at once it can be overwhelming and people may just naturally tune out. You can always add more later or branch out in different areas later.
There are more and more online classroom platforms you can take advantage of these days, however, there are 2 that I have personally worked with and recommend.
To give you a better idea of which one you might start with, I’ll break down the benefits and drawbacks to both.
Teachable is an awesome platform for beginners in the sense that you can get started for free. This is the platform I used to start my first few courses. However, because of this you will run into limitations. You can create a digital course and sell it to 10 people completely for free.
If you already have a small client base and are wanting to offer something to just a few select people, this could be a good fit. And keep in mind that if you ever want to create a second course you may need to upgrade or create a second account.

Kajabi is the platform that currently use for all of my trainings because I love the look and capability of this platform. It has so much included like email funnels, webinars, courses, trainings, memberships and you can create multiple pages of a cohesive website.
It’s safe to say that if you’re hoping to start a legit business and grow with an online classroom or training, then Kajabi is the absolute best place to start.

On both Kajabi and Teachable you will find different trainings that will walk you through how to do everything to get yourself set up for success.
Before you start building a course, make sure you know what it takes and how your particular platform runs so that you can put together a course or training that is user friendly.
Then you are ready to create your course! I love the tip that Jenna Kutcher gave on The Goal Digger podcast about planning out a course.
She recommends writing out every single thing that you would want to share or include in your course and then put each individual thing on a post-it note.
After you’ve done that, you can choose things that might be main topics and things that might be subjects included in that main topic. For example:
How to make your bed <– Main topic
Once you know what you are going to talk about, you can create your entire course and make it look flawless by using Canva!
Canva is an online website you can use to do hundreds of graphic design work without needing to know anything about graphic design!
Just head to the Presentation section of Canva and you can even chose from pre-made templates that will make your course look gorgeous!
