Babysitting

There is a struggle that a lot of stay at home moms…sorry…stay at home parents struggle with and that is that they are no longer able to provide financially for their family. A lot of times a stay at home parent may have previously worked and now feel this sense of guilt or shame for no longer being able to provide aid financially.

If you fall into this category, I have good news, there are ways of making your stay at home status turn into a money-generating gig.

One of the best ways to do this and to ensure that you’re not putting in a ton of extra effort is to offer childcare services to other families in your area. Several other people pay crazy amounts of money for daycare or nanny services and you might be doing them a favor when you offer up your “babysitting expertise.”

Always remember to never take on more than you can handle. Starting with one bonus kid can be an easy way to start where you’re not adding too much to your already full plate. Having one bonus kid in tow might be something you barely notice but can help you bring in some much enjoyed additional income.

Affiliate Marketing

If you are someone who is a natural born sharer and are already pretty active on social media a great way to make additional income is to start learning more about affiliate marketing.

You can do this by taking a look at products or services that you currently use and searing Google to see if they have an affiliate program. If they do, all you have to do is take a few minutes to apply to their affiliate program.

When you are accepted as an affiliate you can begin putting links in your bio while continuing to genuinely share with your audience more about each particular affiliate.

This could be as simple as becoming an affiliate for Target and sharing your latest purchases on your Instagram.

One of the biggest things to remember when it comes to learning to make money with affiliate marketing is to not go too big too soon. Start with 5 or fewer affiliate that you love and can authentically promote and work at chatting them up every chance you get. Then, when someone purchases a product or signs up for a service, you can earn yourself a commission from the company. Think of it as their way of saying “Thanks for the recommendation!”

Right now, one of the top resources to learn about affiliate marketing is a course called Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing, created by millionaire blogger, Michelle Shroeder of Making Sense of Cents.

Rent Yo Stuff

In this day and age, tons of people are second guessing their long term purchases on things like cabins, RV’s and in ground pools. However, that doesn’t mean they don’t want to be able to take advantage of these things if you happen to have them lying around.

Gone are the days that we have to hand our money over to big corporations for things like hotel stays, car rentals and even…pool parties!

If you’re wondering if some of your larger (and mostly unused) purchases could be helping you generate some income while you do little more than sit back and get paid, here are 4 places you can get started.

Stuff you can rent:

  • Your Car: Places like Turo allow people to list and rent their vehicles by the day. This might be to people who are needing a rental for vacation, needing a temporary ride, or just might want to cruise your Camaro on date night.
  • Your Pool: If you happen to be the proud owner of an awesome pool set up, you could look into renting it out by the hour. This is a perfect way to provide a private escape for people’s family gatherings, birthday parties, and other events.
  • Your RV: Are you one of those people who use your RV 3 times per year? Why not put it to good use and list it on a site like RVShare. This is a site where people can find locals in their area to rent RVs from. Not only can this reduce costs for travelers, but can help put some extra cash in your pocket instead of just letting your RV sit in the garage.
  • Your Spare Room: It’s no surprise that these days places like Airbnb are dominating the travel industry and are creating more flexible options for people to stay in when they are on the road. Check the Airbnb calculator to see how much you could own for renting your home (or just a room)!

Dog sitting

Just like you could make some extra cash as a babysitter when you already at home with your kids, you can now just as easily get paid to snuggle an extra dog or two especially if you’re already an established work from home dog parent.

There are now apps like Rover that allow you to list your dog sitting and walking services to local families in your area. You get to set your own pay, choose your hours and if you’re hesitant to take on a new pup, you can arrange a meet up with families ahead of time. If you’re hoping for some consistent side hustle type income, you might be down for being a daily dog sitter to families who are currently looking to drop their dogs off at doggy daycare while they’re at work. At just $20 per day, this could easily add up to an additional $400 per month! Set up a Rover for your area.

Having an app

Did you know most of the apps you have downloaded are willing to pay you simply for referring friends? By inviting your friends to partake in some of your favorite apps, you can earn a commission just for having them sign on!

By the way, this includes things like your favorite banking apps! More and more banks are hopping on board with referral codes that you can share and it just might earn you $500 or more!

Furniture reselling

Have you ever driven down the side of the road and seen furniture marked “FREE” and thought to yourself, my gosh, that is still a perfectly good piece of furniture, I can’t believe they are giving it away for free!

Your first thought might be to find a place to cram it into your own home…after all it’s in great shape, and you’d hate for it to go to waste. Before you go shifting your furniture to make room, maybe consider using these free pieces as a new way to make some cash.

Many people don’t realize that the process of flipping furniture doesn’t necessarily have to require hard grueling hours of painting, varnishing, and sanding. Flipping can simply be taking items you find for free, snapping a quick cleaned-up photo of the item and listing it on Facebook Marketplace.

Often times people who dump things. at the end of the driveway are just ready to be done with the item and don’t want to take 5 minutes to list it. However, if you don’t mind temporarily storing some stuff while you wait for sales to be made this could be the perfect way to make some extra money without putting in a lot of effort!
